Dr. Rob Gregory
Dr. Rob's passion for fitness and health began in high school and grew exponentially as he entered Ferris State University where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Corporate Fitness and Wellness. While at Ferris State, Dr. Rob was active in club rugby and served on the board of the weightlifting club until he graduated in 2002. Throughout his undergraduate studies Rob competed in sanctioned and un-sanctioned natural bodybuilding, powerlifting and strongman-style competitions. It is this varied history of training that has helped him develop his global approach to patient training and rehabilitation. Using exercises not always utilized in traditional physical rehab Dr. Rob gets extraordinary results with patients who need increased stability and strength for the unforeseeable potential injuries that plague many of us from what we think are simple day to day activities. Dr. Rob went on to learn more about soft tissue injury and recovery strategies from a manual therapy perspective when he studied Medical Massage Therapy. He continued on his education journey to better serve his clients by attending National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) to finish his Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. While at NUHS he witnessed firsthand the healing effects of Acupuncture for conditions beyond pain and musculoskeletal dysfunctions. It was this that empowered him to further pursue his Masters in Acupuncture so that he could help his patients beyond what his skills as a manual therapist and chiropractor had been able to treat. Dr. Rob tirelessly continues to pursue education and knowledge to be assured his skills as a practitioner of the healing arts are effective for the sake of his patients seeking conservative care. That passion has allowed him to further his acupuncture education as he has attained further specialty certifications as an Acudetox Specialist through NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) and as the first (CPHPCA) Certified Provider of Hospice and Palliative Care Acupuncture in Illinois.
Dr. Rob is passionate about working hard but working smart. He believes that for optimal health there must be a mix of stress to the body and recovery of the body. In the absence of disease or injury, a persons fitness and nutrition is their first line of defense against pain and imbalance. If we remain strong and conditioned we are less susceptible to chronic injury. Following a regular routine of conditioning is maintaining adequate mobility and muscle extensibility or pliability. The muscles should be strong and freely moving. If we let our muscles get short and tight or imbalanced, we are setting ourselves up for potential injury. This is where chiropractic care plays a major role in our ability to move and recover. Muscles move bones and joints. When tension is off in our muscles, then the joints suffer too and we limit our movement and eventually we feel pain with movement or worse, we damage the joint surfaces and begin the road to a battle with arthritic changes. If we keep ourselves in check by exercising, managing our muscles and joints and eating well, we are a force to be reckoned with.
